Reliable gear for tough conditions
I’m a longtime fan of Patagonia’s winter gear. The down jackets stand up well during backcountry trips where conditions can get harsh. Last December, I was out for three days in snowy weather and my jacket kept me dry and warm every time. Their commitment to repairing old gear also helped me extend the life of an older fleece, which is pretty cool.

Perfect jacket for cold hikes

Excellent performance and sustainability combined
I’ve been hunting for a jacket that works well for both urban use and weekend trail runs, and finally found it with Patagonia’s R1 TechFace hoodie. It’s breathable enough that I don’t overheat during intense hikes but still blocks wind effectively. I really like that it’s made with recycled polyester too, which fits my eco-conscious lifestyle. My only minor gripe is that the zipper can get a little stiff in really cold weather, but it’s manageable overall.
